Car Shipping Transit Times (Video)
Mike Marshall of PAL talks about how long it takes to ship a car from one location to another, and the various factors that affect car shipping transit times.
Hi, I’m Mike Marshall, Dispatch Manager with Preowned Auto Logistics. I’d like to talk to you about transit times and what can affect them.
There are many things that can affect the transit time of a vehicle once it’s in shipment. Among them can be mechanical difficulties, which can cause the driver to stop for repairs or maintenance. There are weather delays, which seem obvious, but there are many things that can affect them. If the roads are unsafe, the drivers will stop, park at a rest area and only drive when it’s safe to do so.
There are federal regulations that prohibit drivers from driving certain amount of hours in a day, so they can only drive the hours that are safe for everybody. They have to take breaks, so they can get on the road and be safe and deliver your car in a timely manner.
